How Your House Can Contribute to the Eco-System

The earth needs our attention! The impact of global warming on the planet’s temperature is severe. It is not long before these impacts become irreversible. The earth’s temperature is rising, snowcaps are melting, and the plant earth faces frequent floods and droughts. Much of this is related to the way humans live their life. Their daily activities are piling up waste, and the poor earth has to deal with the impact of pollution and waste. It is high time that we humans take cognizance of our activities on this earth and start with eco-friendly habits in our daily routine.

Adding eco-friendly habits does not always mean adding revolutionary changes to your routine. A simple change in the way you live your life can make a lot of difference too. It will take the whole world to reverse the changes of global warming on this earth. It is not the duty of the industries of the government to make the changes; there is a lot we can do to play our part. Here are a few changes that you can make in your house to make it more eco-friendly.

1. Install The Solar Panels

It is time to shift from the conventional source of energy generated by coal and oil to the alternative source of energy such as solar panels. Solar panels are among the clean sources of electricity that do not make any waste. They only need a clean source of water to produce electricity using the sun’s energy. If you are worried about the cost of solar panels, a quick search for how much do solar panels cost will tell you all that you need to know. Their initial installation cost can be a little higher, but looking at their long-run benefits and what you can save on your electricity bills will tell about the true benefits of it. Above all are its environmental benefits. Solar energy doesn’t add to air pollution as fossil fuels can cause global warming.

2. Look At The Energy Efficiency Of The Products

When you are buying any equipment for your house, look at the energy ratings. Nowadays, all the electrical equipment comes with an energy tag that lists how much electricity it uses. This way, you can buy appliances such as Air conditioners or refrigerators that are eco-friendly and do not add to your electricity bill. So when purchasing, make sure the energy rating is near to one, which is the lowest.

3. Install Energy-Efficient Lights And Bulbs

We all use bulbs and lights to illuminate our house. Instead of going for a fluorescence bulb, go for LED lights that conserve electricity. They also cause fewer greenhouse gases to get emitted into the atmosphere because the bulbs need less electricity. These bulbs have been in the market for a long time now. However, thanks to public awareness about global warming and climate change, people have become aware of the energy usage in their houses.

4. Insulate The House

One of the ways to make your house eco-friendly is to contain the heat and cold in the winter and summer seasons, respectively. Insulating the home would reduce the penetration and loss of heat in the respective seasons. This way, you won’t need to use the heater or air conditioners more frequently and for longer. This is also one of the most innovative ways to conserve the electricity in the house and hence make it more eco-friendly.

5. Tuned Off The Electrical When Not In Use

This is a basic requirement that you can do to make your home more eco-friendly. Whenever you leave a room, ensure the lights and fans are turned off. Keeping the lights on even when you are not using a room is the most careless attitude you can see in people these days. Their lethargy or carelessness is not only creating a mess of the natural environment, but it is also impacting their pockets too.

6. Add Indoor And Outdoor Plants

You might be astonished to know that the indoor air is two to five times more polluted than outside. In the house, you use many chemical products for cleaning, and there are fumes from the kitchen as well. The air inside the home remains concentrated in a smaller area for a long time. Therefore, it can be harmful to the inhabitants. The cheap yet effective way to keep the inside air clean is by adding indoor and outdoor plants to your house. Plants regulate the house’s temperature and decrease carbon dioxide as their soil is a natural carbon dioxide sink. Interestingly, they offer a cushion against outside noise and overall improve the mood as well.

7. Replace Plastics With Glass Containers

Plastic is inexpensive and readily available, but it is also wreaking havoc on this planet. Most plastics, after use, end up in incinerators or landfills because there is no way to get rid of plastic altogether. When they burn the plastic in the incinerators, it releases toxic gases into the environment, which pollute the environment and cause severe health issues. On the contrary, it does not decompose naturally in landfills and stays there for hundreds of years. Even during this time, it releases greenhouse gases. You can easily reduce the use of plastic by preferring it on other recyclable materials such as steel and glass. Plastic bags are another way to add to plastic pollution.

8. Use Materials Made With Bamboo

Bamboo is one of the fastest-growing grass in the world. It is also a sustainable material to make things on an industrial scale. There are a lot of products available in the market that are made with bamboo. Bamboo brushes, combs, and straws are readily available in the market. They can be an incredible alternative to using single-use straws.
